SURPRISE, SURPRISE

Surprise? What Surprise? Well, that is the name of our new town that we will be living in. Here are some facts about our soon to be hometown:

FACTS ABOUT SURPRISE, ARIZONA

- Founded in 1938 by Homer Ludden and named after his Nebraska hometown; incorporated Dec. 12, 1960 with a population of about 1,000. Today, it’s one of the nation’s fastest growing cities with a new home completed almost every hour.
-Population: Estimated 96,599 by the end of 2005
-Weather: Surprise averages 211 clear days and 85 partly cloudy days each year.
-Golf Courses: 8, including a par 3 chip-and-putt
-At its center is the City’s 2002 dream-come-true: The 180-acre, multi-award winning Surprise Recreation Campus! Named by Phoenix New Times 2004 as the “Best Place to see a Spring Training Game,” it is the Cactus League Spring Training home of the Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers, and home base to a vibrant youth sports program and spectacular special events
-Landmark: The country’s only World War II Army-Air Corps Memorial located at 16089 N. Bullard Ave.
-Every December the city sponsors a “Surprise Party” with carnival, parade and fun activities for the whole family.
