The start of our new backyard....trees

We have been putting off landscaping the backyard. A few reasons, money, not sure about a pool or not (practically everyone in Arizona has pools), getting a dog and fearing he would tear everything up and money.
A local nursery here was having an incredible sale and for our 13th Wedding Anniversary we deliberated back and forth if we should start investing in the backyard....and we did. 8 Queen Palm Trees and 10 Pygmy Date Palms. My brother Bob helped when we bought our house in Antioch and we needed trees. He picked out beautiful trees for our house. So I was hesitant to choose them. I mean, once their in, its pretty hard to decide to move them or that you don't like them.
So we went to the nursery and Kyle actually helped pick out quite a few. The thing with the pygmy date palms is how many trunks you want. So..here are a couple of pictures of the palms right after they were put in. Much to my surprise (I was at work for all of this). Gary took a picture of his Mom standing next to the Queen Palms..and there is Shadow, putting his mark on all the new foliage in the backyard.

Nice show of Shadow lifting his leg Gary! It kind of takes away from his Mom posing so nicely next to the tree doesn't it? ;-)

The small plants between the Queen Palms are the Pygmy Date Palms and they look fantastic when fully grown.

We planted them strategically so when we get ready to put the pool in they will be nicely placed around the pool.
Here are pictures (these are not in our backyard yet) of a fully grown Pygmy Date palm and the full grown Queen Palms.
