We took the opportunity to go for a short trip up the road about 30 miles north west of Surprise to Wickenburg. It is an old western town that has a quaint feel and old west relics around. We had lunch and saw some of the town.

This is a beautiful church downtown, note the plastic nativity set that glows at dark in the front.

Not many places you can see a steer on the roof!

The Gold Rush days and the Rodeo are coming in February, one of the big highlights of Wickenburg.

The Chamber of Commerce is in the old train station.

A wagon outside the train station that is still decorated up for Christmas.

Gary is 6'5"...can you tell that this is HUGE cactus!

An old beautiful clock in downtown

This was an interactive sculpture. There was a button near it that told the story of this woman who was a school teacher. She came to town to not only teach, but they didn't have custodian's, so she was the caretaker of the school building. We listened to the story and I told Kyle to go stand by her. He was none too happy...especially when a wasp hovered near him...here he is swatting the wasp away.

Here is Kyle after the wasp went away!
